Region 3 Dallas County - Douglas Laister 2024 Season - Darryl Watts was a four-year letter winner for coach Christopher Raymond at Southside Selma. He was a first team All-Area and All-Region selection as a senior. He attended Troy before embarking on his coaching career. Region 4 Dadeville - Roger McDonald stepped down as the head coach at Dadeville in February of this year. McDonald took over the Dadeville football team in 2020 and led the team to the playoffs every year at the helm with an overall record of 26-14. In 18 seasons as a head football coach he has a record of 114-75 at Beauregard, Valley and Carroll. 2024 Season - Chad McKelvey started as an assistant coach at Horseshoe Bend in 2005 moving to Dadeville as the offensive coordinator from 2008-2011. After leaving the sidelines he became the principal at Dadeville Elementary. For the last few years, McKelvey has been the principal at the Edward Bell Career Tech Center at Camp Hill. Region 6 Hanceville - Ryan Brewer leaves Hanceville after three seasons as the head football coach with a record of 11-19. This was his first time serving as a head football coach in the state. The football program at Hanceville has struggled the past ten seasons without making a single playoff appearance during that time. 2024 Season - Levi Estes spent the past three seasons at Oak Mountain, where he served as associate head coach, strength and conditioning coordinator, and run game coordinator. Estes played college football at Bethel University, earning two conference titles as an offensive lineman. Coach Estes was the defensive coordinator at Dresden High School in Tennessee before taking over the head coaching duties in 2017 for two seasons with a 15-7 record. He moved on to Lassiter High School in Georgia for two seasons before landing at Oak Mountain. J.B. Pennington - Caleb Miles leaves J.B. Pennington after just two seasons as the head coach to accept a job at Arab as a coordinator. His two teams at Pennington finished with a record of 17-5 with a couple of playoffs spots. 2024 Season - Jordan Cantrell resigned his head coach position at Florala and accepted the same job at J.B. Pennington. After ten seasons as a head coach his record is 49-58 at West Limestone, Elmore County and Florala. Region 7 Whitesburg Christian - Jimmy Nave leaves Whitesburg Christian after three seasons with a record of 10-20. The young football program has not found success yet on the field but his second team did finish with a break even 5-5 record. The veteran coach has compiles a record of 90-90 in 17 seasons as a head football coach at Tanner, Hazel Green and Whitesburg Christian. 2024 Season - Jere Adcock returns to the sidelines after sitting out a year of retirement. Adcock spent 27 seasons as the head football coach at Decatur High School with a record of 187-120. His teams qualified for the playoffs twenty-one of those seasons and won seven region championships along the way. The Warriors of Whitesburg Christian are still building their football program after just four seasons in the AHSAA and Coach Adcock may just be the person to lead that progress in the future. Sheffield - Brian Dickerson leaves Sheffield after only two seasons with a 8-12 record. 2024 Season - Johnny Wright arrives at Sheffield with 28 years of head coaching experience in Alabama. He a veteran coach with 191 victories under his belt at six different schools. Most recently he was the head coach at Dora (2012-2014). He spent thirteen seasons in Sheffield with a record of 72-70 with nine playoff appearances. Clements - Michael Parker leaves Clements after six seasons with a record of 24-39. He accepted a position at Sheffield under Johnny Wright in March as an assistant coach. 2024 Season - Brick Pugh studied at Belhaven University following graduation from East Limestone High School. He most recently was at Athens High School. Region 8 Brindlee Mountain - Joshua Bailey departs from Brindlee Mountain after a single season that saw his team finish with an 0-10 record. 2024 Season - Jake Pittman was promoted to the head coaching position in May following the departure of Joshua Bailey earlier. Holly Pond - Coleman Mason leaves Holly Pond after just a single season with a 2-8 record. 2024 Season - Will McDaniel arrives in Holly Pond after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Hanceville. He has eleven years of experience as an assistant coach and will get his first shot as a head football coach in 2024. Sylvania - Tyler Vann leaves Sylvania where he led his teams to a 28-10 record in just three seasons with the program. Each of his teams reached the playoffs with the past two winning ten games during the season. It was only the second time in school history Sylvania accomplished that feat. 2024 Season - Tanner Nelson has been named the Sylvania High football coach. He arrives after serving the past three seasons as the offensive coordinator of Collinsville. Elkmont - Chris Bunio parted ways with Elkmont just eight games into the 2023 football season. His record in the year and a half span was 5-13 at Elkmont. The staff completed the season serving in the head coaching role in 2023. The Red Devils have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2014 football season which was also the last winning season for the school. Since that year they will be hiring their fifth head football coach in 2024. 2024 Season - Joel Schrenk stepped down as the head football coach at Woodland in January. He led the football program the past two seasons with a record of 4-16. He leaves after a dozen seasons as the head coach at Falkville, Hazel Green and Woodland. His overall record stands at 60-66. Schrenk arrives in Elkmont in hopes of turning around a program that has struggled recently. |
